Appareo Systems, LLC is pleased to announce the newest product in its award-winning ALERTS Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) system, the GAU 3000. The GAU 3000 extends the capabilities of Appareo’s other innovative FDM equipment by adding a modular infrastructure that enables operators to choose the right hardware package for their needs.

The GAU 3000 continues Appareo’s strong history of building remarkably small, lightweight flight data monitoring equipment and adds to that legacy by incorporating EUROCAE ED-155 compliant crash-survivable flash memory and ARINC 429 support for avionics such as radar-altimeters, glass-cockpit displays and GPS navigators. With ARINC 429 support, the GAU 3000 will serve as a centralized hub to record any and all data generated by today’s all-digital aircraft. For legacy aircraft, the GAU 3000 will still record important flight data independently of the ship’s electronics using Appareo’s sophisticated inertial sensing suite comprised of accelerometers, gyros, compasses and a 16 channel WAAS GPS. The GAU 3000 weighs less than 3.5 pounds and consumes just over ½ cubic foot of space.

Available accessories will include an imaging unit for capturing high-resolution cockpit imagery, a wireless high-speed data module for simplified transmission of Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) data and interfaces to integrate various ARINC 429 compatible avionics.

The GAU 3000 will function seamlessly with the proven ALERTS data infrastructure and analysis tools that currently allow operators around the world to easily and accurately track the safety, efficiency and performance of their fleets. ALERTS – Aircraft Logging and Event Recording for Training and Safety – is a comprehensive FDM system designed for light and legacy aircraft where more traditional flight data recorders are too large and costly to be viable choices. As a comprehensive system, ALERTS makes an effective FOQA/FDM program available to operators of any size.

“The GAU 3000 represents a significant step forward in our efforts to build the best FDM equipment on the market,” said Ben Wright, Appareo Systems’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “By bringing this modular design to the marketplace and incorporating user-desired features like high-speed wireless data transfer and the ED-155 crash-survivable memory module, the ALERTS system continues to hold its position as the leading lightweight FDM system available.”

The GAU 3000 will be available in Q3 of this year and will initially be certified for Bell 407 model aircraft, followed by additional certifications.
