27 Apr, 10Nationwide air medical aviation services provider and helicopter completion specialists, Metro Aviation, Inc. has recently completed and delivered the third EC145 to Cleveland Metro Life Flight in Cleveland, Ohio. Metro Life Flight is part of the MetroHealth System and is a critical care air medical transport program serving northeast Ohio and the surrounding region since 1982. The aircraft was delivered new in "green" condition to the Metro Aviation Shreveport, LA main facility late last year, crated and unassembled from the manufacturer in Germany. Metro Aviation also provides the FAR Part 135 DPIFR air medical transportation services to Life Flight as the result of a competitive bid award. The previous two EC145s currently in operation by Metro Aviation were also completed by the company and were delivered in 2009. Metro Life Flight will begin crew training for night vision goggle operations this month as part of the Metro Aviation mandate to equip all air medical fleet operating helicopters with the capability to improve safety and operational efficiencies.
Metro Aviation, Inc. outfitted the aircraft with the latest technology for WAAS capable IFR approaches, night vision compatibility, and a comprehensive avionics suite in addition to extensive patient care capabilities. Metro Aviation provided all completion services to include aircraft painting, interior appointments, avionics installation, air medical equipment integration and final check flights and delivery to the customer. The company has completed more air medical configured EC145 airframes than any other completion center in the world. Metro Aviation provides twenty four hour air medical transportation services with a fleet of over 70 aircraft at several bases around the nation.
Metro Life Flight operates with a highly trained medical crew in addition to two experienced pilots on board at all times and has transported over 78,000 patients since the program's inception in 1982.
