From 1 January 2011, non-profit operator ADAC Air Rescue Air Rescue will take over the “Christoph 18” air ambulance base in Ochsenfurt.

ADAC believe that the decision in their favour was partly due to to their better training concepts for pilots, paramedics and doctors, something that the  Zweckverband für Rettungsdienst und Feuerwehralarmierung (the contracting authority) noted.

“We are pleased that we could convince them of our concept,” says Susanne Matzke-Ahl, Managing Director of ADAC air rescue. The rescue helicopter “Christoph 18” is an indispensable part of the emergency services in Würzburg and ensures the rapid supply of the emergency physician to the patient and his care transport to the nearest appropriate hospital.

“Christoph 18” is currently run by DRF with an EC135
