Denmark puts six Sea Kings up for sale

The Royal Danish Air Force has announced that it is ready to dispose of its Sea King fleet, more recently superceded by AgustaWestland AW101s after the Sikorsky-built fleet completed an impressive 45 years in service.  The last operational flight was on 16th June this year, as reported on HeliHub.com here.

Two Danish Sea Kings were withdrawn from use in the last three years and donated to museums, with one going to the Denmark Flymuseum in Stauning Airport, and the second to the National Defence Museum.  The remaining six will likely be bought by a second nation, although the disposal process is open to private buyers as well.  The responsibility for these aircraft has already been handled over by the Air Force to the Military Equipment Department, meaning that the Air Force cannot send them out the rescue work. Nevertheless, the four airworthy examples are still at Karup Air Base and flown once a month to maintain their currency.

The Danish language press release did not provide any further information on disposal date or paperwork.  However, we would assume that this can be obtained from teh Military Equipment Department at:-
