New CEO starts at Norsk Luftambulanse

Syver Leivestad (54) begins September 1 as CEO of Norsk Luftambulanse AS. He will be responsible for managing the business that includes eight ambulance helicopter bases in Norway, and that includes flight operations, rescue, medical and helicopter technical activities.

Syver Leivestad has extensive experience in aviation as well as extensive management experience. Today, he served as CEO of the Norwegian Motor Trade Association, where he has been since 2004.

With his background and personality, I am sure he will contribute to the Norwegian Air Ambulance AS ‘development in a very positive way, “said Steinar Sørlie, chairman of the Norsk Luftambulanse AS and Secretary General of the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation.

From previous experience has Syver Leivestad 15 years in various positions at SAS, including as Director of Heavy Maintenance and Traffic Related Maintenance, as administration / Deputy Director of Personnel and organizational and leadership development manager. He has also worked in Partnair four years respectively as CEO and CTO, and he has been in AS Fred Olsen flyveselskap.

– I am very excited to come back to the aviation industry again, “Syver Leivestad. – Time as CEO of an organization that Norwegian Motor Trade Association for six years, has been incredibly educational, exciting and rewarding. The experience here, I will also be able to take advantage of the Norwegian Air Ambulance in general. Getting back to the air again, and not least, we need to work in an organization that every day will help to save lives, must surely be the best business combination that I can think of.

Syver Leivestad is an engineer from Horten College of Engineering with the curriculum finance and operations, in addition to the military Flytekniske school and the Air Force technical officer school.

Facts about the Norsk Luftambulanse AS:
AS Norsk Luftambulanse (NLA AS) operates the ambulance helicopters in eight of Norway’s 11 air ambulance bases. The company operates on behalf of the State through the Norwegian Air Ambulance Service ANS. NLA AS ‘bases are located in Trondheim, Førde, Bergen, Stavanger, Arendal, Ã…l, Lørenskog (2 helicopters) and DombÃ¥s.

NLA AS mans the helicopter pilot and rescue. The doctor on board the helicopter is employed in the local health authorities, except in Domb̴s where the doctor is employed by NLA AS. The three crew has their own unique expertise, but working in a close-knit team to achieve effective planning of the mission, good flight safety and quick response to the patient. The helicopters are small and compact for easy entry to the patient Рno matter where the patient resides.

NLA AS is a wholly owned subsidiary, is the Norsk Luftambulanse Foundation. The Foundation’s primary mission is to help develop the air ambulance service, through activities related to research and development, education and national collaborative projects. Foundation’s activities are financed through membership revenue.
