MedEvac Foundation held and sponsored many successful events at the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) in Ft. Lauderdale last month. Here are just a few highlights:

Former astronaut Daniel Bursch, Captain, USN, Ret. spoke at the AMTC Tuesday General Session, relating safety lessons from NASA to air medical transport. Bursch was a guest of the Foundation and attended events throughout the conference.

Foundation-funded research was presented as education sessions at AMTC. Dr. Ira Blumen presented preliminary findings on the much anticipated HEMS Opportunities for Safety Improvement. He plans to publish the findings by next year. Dr. Cathy Jaynes led the session “Teaching Safety with Stories.” Click here to view the digital safety stories!

MedEvac Foundation sponsored the always exciting Critical Care Skills Competition. After 10 teams competed for 2 days, transport team Nathan Hodgson and Christian Breinik from Metro Life Flight in Cleveland, OH won the coveted METI Cup.

Florida proved to be the perfect place to bring back the Foundation Golf Classic after a two year hiatus. The annual Silent Auction raised a record-breaking $23,000 for research and education programs. The item with the highest bid was the AAMS 30th anniversary AMTC T-shirt quilt.
