Teck Resources’ logo was unveiled today on a STARS helicopter in recognition of Teck reaching a $500,000 donation milestone. Boyd Payne, Teck’s Senior Vice President, Coal, and Dr. Greg Powell, STARS President and CEO, took part in the event alongside STARS crew members.

“Teck is proud to support STARS in its mission to provide critical patient care and rapid transportation,” said Mr. Payne. “STARS provides an essential service and I know that employees at Teck’s coal operations near Hinton and in the Elk Valley of southeastern British Columbia appreciate that STARS is there in the event of an emergency.”

The Teck logo was placed on all five STARS BK117 helicopters which operate from bases in Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie, with service areas covering approximately 94 per cent of Alberta’s population and areas of eastern British Columbia.

“We cannot thank Teck enough for their incredible level of support,” said Dr. Powell. “The funding from corporations and community directly contributes to the care and rapid transportation of critically ill and injured patients flown by STARS. It takes a team.”

Headquartered in Vancouver, Teck is a diversified resource company committed to responsible mining and mineral development with major business units focused on copper, steelmaking coal, zinc and energy.
