21 Feb, 11Following the press release put out by East Anglian Air Ambulance, HeliHub.com made further enquiries into the wider implications of what this EMS operator has publically stated, in particular their statement that "the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) temporarily suspended the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) of Norwich-based firm Sterling Aviation".
On speaking with Richard Taylor of the CAA, he denied that Sterling's AOC had been suspended. He did however confirm there were some "ongoing concerns" and that the CAA were working closely with the company to make certain changes, but at this time their Air Operators Certificate is still in place. This will no doubt be a relief to various organisations that Sterling provide ongoing gas pipeline patrol services to, among others. Sterling are also one of the most used suppliers of helicopters to the BBC for aerial filming work, particularly at sporting events.
