The Evansville Air Evac Lifeteam crew recently welcomed a new addition to its base.   A new Bell Helicopter 206L4 is now in operation for the crew stationed in Evansville. The aircraft sports the familiar red, white and blue Air Evac Lifeteam color scheme.   The L4 has been described by Bell Helicopter as a combination of power, room and range. Its features include a spacious and flexible cabin, a high-visibility cockpit, wide- opening doors, and a simple high inertia two-bladed rotor system.   “This aircraft increases our ability to operate in various terrain and improves our range and lift capability,” said Program Director Lonnie Dardeen. “We are constantly seeking the best in patient care, and with upgraded equipment and a new, powerful, state-of-the-art helicopter, we are well positioned to do that very thing.”   The aircraft also includes Night Vision Goggle instrumentation and a state-of-the-art satellite phone system. The Night Vision goggles are particularly useful on nights with little illumination in identifying emergency scene landing zones in difficult terrain.
