PZL-Åšwidnik, an AgustaWestland company, is pleased to announce that it has signed a renewal agreement with Rolls-Royce to continue the supply of M250 turbines for the SW-4 single engine helicopter. The multi-year agreement will cover the provision of engines for the SW-4 in the world market, confirming confidence of the market opportunities for the type.

Certified in accordance with JAR-27 and FAR-27 regulations, the SW-4 can carry up to five persons including pilot(s) in day and night VFR conditions in the most comfortable passenger
cabin and cockpit in its category. The cockpit features dual controls with an instrument panel design with excellent ergonomics in mind. Both cockpit and cabin offer outstanding all around
visibility increasing safety and VFR situational awareness. Two sliding doors provide access to the large cabin which provides each passenger great space and legroom. A separate baggage compartment in the rear fuselage area further expands available space and mission versatility.

The 1.8 ton SW-4, powered by a 458 shp-rated Rolls-Royce M250 C20-R/2 turbine engine, features a fully articulated main rotor with three composite blades and a two-composite bladed tail rotor. The SW-4 has excellent performance characteristics with a maximum cruise speed of 111 knots, a maximum range of 413 nm and an endurance of 5 hours. The SW-4 features exceptional and forgiving handling and autorotation behaviour for maximum safety and is ideal as a training helicopter.

The SW-4 is capable to perform a large range of roles also including military applications, training, law enforcement, emergency medical service, passenger and cargo transport and VIP/corporate transport. Mission equipment options include FLIR/TV systems and sensors, loudspeaker, searchlight, cargo hook and EMS dedicated fit. Over 30 units have been sold to customers worldwide, particularly in Europe, for various roles including military training,VIP/corporate transport and utility. With regards to the military market, the Polish Air Force already operates a fleet of twenty-four SW-4s for initial training of military helicopter pilots.
