Mid-Continent Instruments officially broke ground today on a new 6,200-square-foot addition to the company’s Wichita, Kansas headquarters located at 9400 East 34th Street North.

More than 150 employees and guests looked on as Mid-Continent Instruments President and CEO, Todd Winter, and dignitaries completed the ceremony. Those in attendance included elected officials from the City of Wichita, members of the Sedgwick County and City of Wichita Economic Development offices, Kansas Department of Commerce and the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition (GWEDC).

“As I look into the crowd, I see the many faces of people who have worked very hard to build this company — to provide exceptional customer service, uncompromising quality, continuous improvement, reliable overhauled instruments and innovative new instruments,” said Todd Winter, president and CEO. “This is a great day for Mid-Continent Instruments, the city of Wichita and the state of Kansas. We feel good about America. We feel good about aviation and we are all willing to work very hard to complete our vision of success.”

The Wichita building expansion will allow Mid-Continent Instruments to grow its new True Blue Power® division and engineering department. The new addition will support the development of new products for aircraft power management, a newly identified market segment within the general aviation industry. The company will add 24 jobs over the next five years including mechanical, electrical design and certification engineers and bench technicians.

Mid-Continent Instruments invested $2.7 million for the addition and the purchase of new machinery and equipment. The company worked closely with the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County, GWEDC and the State of Kansas to create an incentive package that assisted in the completion of the project. Architectural design firm Howard + Helmer are the architects of record for the expansion. Hutton Construction will complete the project.

Founded in 1964, Mid-Continent Instruments specializes in the overhaul/exchange, repair, design and manufacture of aircraft instruments, avionics and power solutions. The company employs more than 165 people in two locations: Wichita, Kan. and Van Nuys, Calif.
