The 2012 International Women in Aviation Conference is scheduled for March 8-10, 2012, in Dallas, Texas. Dozens of scholarships are now posted online at www.wai.org.

Conference
The 2012 International Women in Aviation Conference is scheduled for March 8-10, 2012, in Dallas, Texas, at the Hilton Anatole. Invited speakers include: Gerard J. Arpey, CEO, American Airlines; Rod Hightower, EAA President; Sandra Magnus, Astronaut; Female Helicopter Pilot Panel.

This year’s Conference will include a day-long program called “Bring Your Daughter to the Conference Day,” with the mission of providing a forum to introduce girl from ages 10 to 18 to the aviation community with an emphasis on career opportunities. “Bring Your Daughter to the Conference Day” will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

Applications are now being accepted for nominations for Women in Aviation’s Pioneer Hall of Fame. Members may nominate women for induction whose pioneering efforts have changed the face of some aspect of aviation. Pioneer Hall of Fame inductees may be either living or deceased.Nominating forms may be downloaded and are due by Sept. 10, 2011, for consideration at the 2012 Conference.

Tours of some American Airlines facilities are in the planning phase and details will be announced soon.

Scholarships
Dozens of scholarships are now posted online at www.wai.org . These scholarships will be awarded during the 2012 International Women in Aviation Conference. Applications must be postmarked by November 14, 2011. Women in Aviation Scholarships are available to both males and females. The only mandatory qualification is that the scholarship applicant must be a current WAI member.

In 2011, a total of 76 scholarships valued at $691,750 were awarded to WAI members at every stage of life from university students to mature members seeking opportunities to experience a career in aviation. So far, 64 scholarships with a value of more than $455,500 have been pledged for the 2012 Dallas conference.
