AgustaWestland has today announced that up to 375 jobs are to go in the UK with a company “restructuring” mainly in management and corporate roles in Yeovil and Farnborough, Hampshire.  This is the result of tightening military budgets and the effects of the global recession on the commercial sector.  The company employs almost 3,600 people in the UK, mainly at its factory in Yeovil, so 375 would equate to 10.4% of the total.  Its business headquarters are in Farnborough.

Ray Edwards, managing director of AgustaWestland said: “These steps will place our UK operation on a strong footing and enable us to keep the skills needed for the UK to retain a viable helicopter capability.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after Sikorsky announced a reduction of 567, mainly in the US state of Connecticut.
