HALO-Flight, Inc., the only air ambulance serving the sixteen counties surrounding Corpus Christi, is expanding its fleet of emergency service vehicles. A third Bell 407 helicopter is expected to be delivered in early 2012. With this addition, HALO-Flight’s fleet will include three rotor-wing aircraft and one Specialty Care Transport ground ambulance.

“HALO-Flight is focused on the future. To better serve our 26-county service area, it was necessary to expand our operations,” said Tom Klassen, Executive Director. “With our newly signed partnership with Driscoll Children’s Hospital, where one helicopter will be solely dedicated to the hospital, the expansion of our fleet was imperative to meet the demand for service.”

HALO-Flight’s new helicopter will be configured to mirror their current fleet of aircraft. All three Bell 407’s will be equipped with state-of the-art safety features, including terrain awareness and warning systems, satellite weather systems, and night vision goggles. Additionally, the new helicopter will feature the Cobham Helicopter Autopilot and Stability Augmentation System (HeliSAS) which will allow enhanced stability and makes hands-free flight possible while maintaining heading or navigation course and attitude.

HALO-Flight’s existing aircraft will be outfitted with the autopilot and stability augmentation system by the generous fundraising efforts of Charity League, Inc. HALO-Flight was chosen as the recipient of the organization’s fundraising efforts for the 2011-2012 year.
