In a significant development for hundreds of South American aircraft owners, Cobham’s 3D Synthetic Vision EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) has received Brazilian validation for AS350/355 model series helicopters, allowing for aftermarket installation in that country. The EFIS had previously received validation for Bell 206 and 407 aircraft.

The fully-digital EFIS from Integrated Systems, a business unit of Cobham Commercial Systems, delivers superior precision and increased reliability for higher dispatch rates, lower operating costs, and reduced equipment maintenance expenses. The displays’ lighter weight enables enhanced payload capabilities. Conformal Synthetic Vision reduces pilot workload and fatigue for more confident command and control, and Cobham’s field-updatable software allows new functionalities to be installed without replacing hardware components.

With features such as an integrated Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS), integrated Flight Management System (FMS), Highway-In-The-Sky (HITS) predictive flight director, and Hover Vector, Cobham’s EFIS will enable safer, more stable flight across the challenging terrain and weather conditions of Brazil.
