13 Feb, 12HELIOS Hubschraubertransport GmbH presents the patented new SilentEcoWing – System to producers and experts at Heli Expo 2012 in Dallas, Texas. The project was inspired by nature: A bird gliding almost soundlessly. „We reflected how to minimize the noise generated at the rotor blade tips“, said Mr. Walter Enthammer, the General Manager. The result of this mechnical innovation: Higher efficiency and noise reduction. A simple and economic implementation of the blade tip splits up the air flow. The vortexes diminish and the drag decreases considerably.
Wind tunnel test at Technical University Munich confirmed the benefit impressively. CFD calculations are in progress in the U.S. to be able to show the amazing effect in computer simulations. Walter Enthammer is curious about the reactions in Dallas. 600 exhibitors are expected to come to this world’s largest trade fair from 11th to 14th of February.
