Spidertracks has launched Spidertxt for Android, the latest software feature for their GPS satellite-tracking units. Spidertxt for Android allows spidertracks users to send and receive SMS messages, to and from any cell phone on the ground, while in flight.

The new application works by connecting a Spider S4 or Bluetooth enabled Spider S2 unit to any Android smart phone via Bluetooth connection. Once connected pilots can send and receive SMS messages to and from anyone on the ground, in flight.

Spidertracks General Manager, James McCarthy, said this development is a result of listening to their customers demands, and will allow pilots to remain connected to their ground teams at all times.

“Part of what makes spidertracks unique and what our customers value about us, is our ability to make them visible to their ground teams from anywhere in the world. Spidertxt for Android improves this by allowing pilots to have contact during flight with anyone on the ground.”

The new application can be downloaded free of charge from the Android Marketplace and used on any Android smart phone, in conjunction with a Spider S4 or Bluetooth enabled Spider S2 unit.
