23 May, 12Specialist Aviation Services has added another MD Explorer to its fleet - a lease from sister company European Support Centre bvba in Belgium. SAS's Nigel Lemon told HeliHub.com that they see greater market opportunity for the Explorer in the UK and have thus transferred it from the Belgian register - where it was OO-EMS - to the UK register as G-ESCI, a registration chosen to pick the initials of the Belgian company. Lemon was half regretting the fact that the aircraft was not up and available in the UK two weeks back when competitor Bond grounded their EC135s as the helicopter is fully EMS equipped and has been actively worked on at SAS's Gloucestershire base since arriving on 12th April.
Specialist Aviation Services is better known by the names of its subsidiaries - Police Aviation Services and Medical Aviation Services
