RLC, the largest privately held helicopter operator in the Gulf of Mexico, has earned the Helicopter Association International (HAI) 2011 Operator Safety Award. The 2011 award marks the second year in a row RLC has been recognized by HAI for operator safety.  The new award honors a total of over 115,000 accident-free flight hours over the two-year period.

“Because of RLC’s efforts to reduce accident risk, the helicopter industry is better prepared to meet the challenges currently before us and those of the future,” wrote HAI President Matthew Zucarro in a letter informing RLC of the award.

“This award is a tribute to the hard work and efforts of all RLC employees.  RLC has made safety a core value of our company.  Our employees and management staff are dedicated to a positive safety culture and qualifying for this HAI recognition affirms that commitment,” said RLC CEO Dru Milke. “The cornerstone of RLC safety is our Safety Management System (SMS), an integrated approach geared to continuous improvement.  RLC SMS is employee- and customer-centered, building a robust safety system through input, understanding and a constant focus.”
