UK – Heliair to open Flight Instructor Academy

3-Sep-2012 Source: Heliair

Heli Air is pleased to announce the opening of a new base at Gloucestershire Airport on Monday 24th September. Heli Air has been expanding over the past twelve months and when the opportunity arose to secure a newly built facility adjacent to the control tower at Gloucestershire Airport the opportunity was quickly developed.

Gloucestershire Airport has a very large helicopter presence and has an excellent reputation as the leading GA airfield in the UK for professionalism in training for private and commercial pilots.  Gloucestershire Airport is superbly located to fly from and is centrally located immediately adjacent to the M5 motorway’s Junctions 10 & 11 and alongside the A40 between the town of Cheltenham and city of Gloucester.

Captain Mike Buckland as many may already know has been appointed by Heli Air as the Base Manager and brings with him a wealth of knowledge in piloting, flight instruction, pilot skills testing & examinations and public transport capabilities.  Mike specialises in training commercial pilots to become helicopter flight instructors and with this in mind Heli Air has created the Flight Instructor Academy at the new base, supported by the more familiar PPL and CPL pilot training and charter services the company is so well known for.  Mike will be joined by other Heli Air instructors and commercial pilots to assist him with the future development of the Gloucestershire Airport facility.

Aircraft

Heli Air commences operations with a Robinson R22 and an R44 at the airport, and these two will be closely followed by an R66 and a Bell 206 JetRanger for future use.  It is planned to introduce further aircraft, with more R22s and a Bell LongRanger in the near future.

Training

Heli Air brings to Gloucestershire Airport the Instructor Academy, a full FTO and TRTO on many aircraft allowing the company to complete full PPL(H) courses, CPL(H) courses and Type Ratings on the majority of single engine helicopters.  Whatever your needs are do contact the Gloucestershire office on 01452 855500 to discuss your requirements.
