Transport Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yildirim opened the new “K Heliport” in Istanbul on 5th September – the largest heliport in Turkey.  Also present were Civil Aviation General Manager Bilal Sour, State Airports Authority General Manager Orhan Birdal, and many guests from across the Turkish civil aviation sector.

Owned and run by operator Kaan Air, the AgustaWestland and Enstrom distributor for Turkey, the heliport has two landing pads with 15 tonne capacity.  The company claims it is the “largest heliport of Eurasia and Balkans” and covers 22 acres on a site with open approaches from practically all directions.  The 1800 sq.m hangar has a capacity for 16 multi-blade helicopters together with associated workshops, offices and stores.  Its location is approx 5 miles northwest of the Bosporus bridge and one mile off the main O-2 ring road and is thus well positioned for access to the city centre – traffic permitting!

Kaan Air is part of the BaÅŸarı Holding group of companies – see also http://www.kaanair.com
