Aero Dynamix added the AgustaWestland AW139 to its STC portfolio of NVG cockpits. With this addition, the Aero Dynamix portfolio now includes 26 multi-ship STCs on 36 different aircraft model types.

Aero Dynamix first STC AW139 was delivered to the Los Angeles Fire Department and is the first of three LAFD AW139s to receive the Aero Dynamix NVG cockpit upgrade. The remaining NVG upgrades will be accomplished over the next 18 months.

The helicopters are used in search and rescue, aerial firefighting and other missions conducted by the LAFD Air Operations unit.

The NVG upgrades provide a fully integrated and balanced lighting solution designed to optimize NVG performance while providing exceptional nighttime and daylight readability. The NVG cockpit incorporates internal NVIS modifications to Honeywell digital flight displays, internal instrument modifications, NVG compatible edge lit panels and instrument overlays, switches, annunciators, and other lighted components.

Aero Dynamix previously completed STC approved NVG upgrades for LAFD’s Bell Jet Ranger and two Bell 412s. “Nighttime and daylight readability of these cockpits are exemplary” says Scot Davison, LAFD Command Pilot, “making the transition from aided to unaided flight effortless.”
