Eight Foreign National military pilots graduated with flying colors today from RAVCO’s inaugural Spanish language mountain helicopter course at its Leadville Mountain/High Altitude Training and Test Site.  The three week training program featured advanced instruction and techniques flying in some of most technical and demanding flying environments available in the United States. “This is graduate level training for accomplished pilots,” RAVCO head Njord Rota told the proud graduates, “and you have excelled in every facet of our demanding flying program”.

The eight graduating pilots, all experienced military aviators, heartily agreed with Rota’s assessment.  “RAVCO helped us become better pilots by teaching us to understand our aircraft, the environment, and the techniques that make us safer and more confident in the mountains” said one of the pilots.   Flying RAVCO’s fleet of three Bell 206BIII helicopters, the aviators mastered the included fundamentals of power management, aircraft system performance, mountain weather, aerodynamics and high altitude physiology. The capstone third week included Night Vision Goggle (NVG) training at altitudes of up to 14,000 ft.

RAVCO specializes in high altitude rotary-wing flight training and test flight services to the helicopter industry.  The company’s training areas encompass some of the most challenging terrain in the Colorado Rockies, including the Nation’s highest landing zone at 14,026 feet above sea level.
