Heli-survival solutions developed by Aero Sekur are being adopted across the AgustaWestland 139, 169 and 189 helicopters. A modular design philosophy ensures commonality of Aero Sekur’s external life-raft and emergency flotation systems to reduce ongoing development and qualification costs for the AgustaWestland range.
Other benefits will include a significant potential lowering of maintenance costs through a smaller spare parts inventory. Additionally, maintenance is made easier and training is simplified.
Advantages of Aero Sekur’s lightweight and compact externally mounted life-raft solution include space saving in the cabin and self-monitoring to assess aircraft position to ensure safe activation.
Scope of work for Aero Sekur has included design, development, qualification and equipment supply. Key components include the company’s Non-Pyrotechnic Inflation System. Designed for flotation bag and life-raft applications, the NPIS avoids many of the problems associated with conventional pyrotechnic systems. Featuring unique valve technology using advanced materials, the system can be used in new airframes or retrofitted to replace existing pyrotechnic installations.
Aero Sekur has over forty years’ experience supplying the aerospace industry and has developed a range of helicopter specific safety and survival products. Credentials include previous contracts for AgustaWestland and the supply of flotation systems to Eurocopter for the EC175 helicopter.
