STARS air ambulance unveiled the Grande Prairie Petroleum Association (GPPA)’s logo on a STARS helicopter on August 8, during the annual GPPA Golf Tournament, which took place at the Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club. This logo unveiling recognized the GPPA’s cumulative total contribution of over $397,000 to STARS. Funds were raised through the GPPA’s annual Hangar Dance gala, an event that has been running since 2011.

“STARS is a very worthy cause that contributes directly to the safety of oil and gas sector employees, and residents in our community,” said Rob Petrone, president of the GPPA. “It is a pleasure partnering with STARS to host the annual Hangar Dance gala, and we appreciate the amazing support it receives from everyone involved.”

The STARS base in Grande Prairie has been in operation since late 2006, flying hundreds of missions every year. STARS also monitors over 4000 industry sites on a daily basis, many of which are oil and gas related and are in the Grande Prairie region. Contributions from donors like GPPA are essential to the successful continuation of these STARS programs.

“We are truly grateful for the Grande Prairie Petroleum Association’s very generous financial commitment to STARS,” says Andrea Robertson, STARS president and CEO. “This funding will contribute toward the emergency care of critically ill and injured patients in the region.”
