Bristow Group names new VP and Chief Safety Officer

Bristow Group Inc. (NYSE: BRS), a leading provider of helicopter services to the offshore energy industry, announced today that it has appointed Steve Predmore Vice President and Chief Safety Officer responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to Bristow’s global operations related to safety, safety auditing, health and environmental matters.

Bristow President and CEO Bill Chiles says, “Steve has an outstanding track record in safety and brings industry-leading talent and depth of experience to our leadership team. Bristow has a tremendous safety culture in Target Zero with the best operating practices in our industry. Steve will lead the refinement and implementation of our safety policies and procedures to ensure that we have an effective Safety Management System (SMS) and demonstrate proactive industry leadership in safety. Predmore has a long history in the aviation industry, including 11 years with JetBlue Airways as Vice President and Chief Safety Officer, and six years with Delta Air Lines as Director Safety Performance & Quality. While at JetBlue, he helped the organization to industry-leading performance in lowest rates of injuries and aircraft damages. Most recently he was Senior Vice President of Safety for MV Transportation, where he led the transition from a traditional HSE operating model to a robust safety management system.

He also has been active in the aviation industry, having served at one time on the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Recently he was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to serve on the Management Advisory Committee to the FAA administrator, which followed successive leadership roles with three FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committees, the Air Transport Safety Council and the Global Aviation Information Network (GAIN).

Predmore is an expert on human factors and has published papers on aviation safety and human factors. He has a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Drake University.
