The National Police Air Service (NPAS) will soon have a new ‘home’ thanks to investment by Durham Tees Valley Airport.

Under a new five-year agreement the airport is funding a new purpose-built hangar for Air Service’s Eurocopter EC135 aircraft which is based at Durham Tees Valley. Work on the new 320 square metre facility is already underway with the aim of having it ready for use as quickly as possible.

Says Airport Commercial Director Andy Foulds: “The Air Support Service is an important and long-standing tenant and this investment by the airport reflects our strong relationship. Up to now the service has had the use of one of our main hangars, but now it will enjoy the benefits of a facility specifically tailored to its requirements.

“Meanwhile the hangar which the service previously occupied is being put to good use by Sycamore Aviation and its rapidly-developing aircraft recycling centre.”
