Symbiotics Ltd, leading international specialists in human performance assessment and training solutions, has been invited to deliver a presentation at the ICAO Multi-crew Pilot Licence Symposium which is being held from 10th to 12th December at the ICAO Headquarters in Montreal.

The aim of the Symposium, which will be attended by a significant number of national aviation authorities and air operators, is to review and assess the progress that has been made since the Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) was launched seven years ago.  The first ICAO licence of its kind to be introduced in over 40 years, the MPL is designed to guide students seamlessly from ab-initio training to airline type rating, using simulation-based, multi-crew training techniques.

Symbiotics has been asked to present at the Symposium in recognition of the company’s reputation for applying a scientific, multi-disciplinary approach to thescreening and selection of candidates for the global airline community, including MPL training programmes.

Assessing Gen Y for New Gen: De-risking the long term commitment of MPL

MPL programmes are a long term commitment for both student and airline, therefore it is essential that selection provides reassurance that the successful applicant is the right one.  This presentation will look at the specific issues associated with assessing recruits for an MPL programme; it will look at the challenges of recruiting and selecting the new generation of cadets, who will be trained to fly the New Gen aircraft for a specific sponsoring airline. The presentation will share some experiences from aviation and other domains, suggesting attributes that contribute to success during training with the FTO and also those that identify how the graduate is likely to transition to operational flying.

Nikki Heath, CEO of Symbiotics Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to have been asked to present at the ICAO MLP Symposium. It represents a further validation of our unrivalled expertise in identifying those candidates who really do have the ‘right stuff’.”
