The Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare, UK, is seeking two particular aircraft to expand what is already a most impressive line-up of helicopters.
In a posting on a popular forum website, the user heli1 – widely believed to be the Chairman of the Museum’s Trustees, Elfan ap Rees – posted a request initially for an Alouette III, and then added in a request for an S76. His remarks on the Alouette “Its time this venerable beast went on show in the UK” (pardon his punctuation!) certainly brought a smile in the HeliHub.com office. He then has a side-swipe at three big companies he may need to keep on-side with “Also currently seeking an S-76 but Sikorsky,Bristow and CHC still counting the pennies!”
Let’s hope the Museum is successful at adding both of these – if you know of sources for either, please contact them direct. HeliHub.com thoroughly recommends anyone in the industry to visit The Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare – the sheer volume and variety of exhibits is amazing.
