Era Group Inc, (“Era”), one of the largest helicopter operators in the world and the longest serving helicopter transport operator in the U.S., announced today that it has appointed Cory Theriot to the post of Vice President of Safety and Quality Assurance. As part of Era’s senior management team, Theriot brings nearly two decades of experience in aviation safety and risk assessment to this critical position of overseeing Era’s commitment to the highest safety standards and practices.

Most recently serving as Shell Pipeline-Downstream’s Aviation Manager, Theriot spent over 13 years managing aviation contractors for Shell Oil Co. While at Shell, he served as a member of the Shell Aircraft International team providing compliance direction to a wide array of fixed wing and rotorcraft operators throughout the Americas, as well as having responsibility for federal regulatory and corporate compliance, risk gap analysis, safety management, project and budget planning, operational startups, and extensive site compliance auditing.

Prior to joining Shell, Theriot served as an aviation insurance risk auditor for a subsidiary of Lloyds of London where his primary focus was to identify potential hazards within aviation carrier operations and to provide regulation compliant and industry proven solutions to mitigate risk. His operational territory included oil and gas sectors in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Indonesia, China, Russia, Australia, and the Americas.
