A proposal for a new helicopter hangar at Aberdeen International Airport is to be considered by councillors next week.

The Bond Offshore Helicopter plan, which proposes building a hangar at the corner of Farburn Terrace and Cordyce View, adjacent to the firm’s eastern terminal, has been recommended for approval.

The proposed hangar, which would be used to store six helicopters, would have a footprint of 1,955 square metres. It would also provide changing facilities, a bothy and stores.

The site is presently partly-used as a car park for BP offshore employees. It is proposed that the 21 space car park is reconfigured to provide 22 parking spaces, six taxi spaces, and a one-way system.

The Planning Development Management Committee will consider the application when it meets in the Town House on 19 June.
