United Rotorcraft, an Air Methods Division (Nasdaq: AIRM), recently delivered a Bell 429 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Helicopter to HALO-Flight in Corpus Christi, Texas, equipped with a customized medical interior.  The aircraft completion took place at the Bell Helicopters facility in Piney Flats, Tenn. and is slated to enter service September 2014.

“Our life saving mission necessitates the need for the best medical equipment possible within our helicopter’s interior to ensure the safety of every patient flown.” said HALO-Flight Executive Director Tom Klassen. “We are pleased to continue our partnership with United Rotorcraft, along with the provided confidence in their ability to consistently match our needs.”

HALO-Flight’s Bell 429 is capable of accommodating up to two patients and three medical attendants.  The medical interior includes United Rotorcraft’s machined EMS floor overlay with an integrated ‘anti-skid surface,’ and a United Rotorcraft ‘roll-on, fold-up’ litter system. On-board medical systems include liquid oxygen (LOX), compressed air, suction, mounts to accommodate carry-on medical equipment, and an abundance of AC power. In addition, the interior lighting is night vision system compatible.

“This delivery follows the completion of a new Bell 407 for HALO-Flight the previous year,” United Rotorcraft President Mike Slattery added. “We appreciate HALO-Flight’s continued confidence in United Rotorcraft’s capabilities, and we look forward to a long partnership ahead.”
