The Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) Society, a new HAI affiliate member, will host a special panel on health usage monitoring systems (HUMS) at its annual conference in Fort Worth, Texas, September 29 through October 3. HAI Director of Flight Operations and Technical Services Harold Summers will be one of the panelists.

The past 10 years have seen widespread deployment of health and usage monitoring in the heavy helicopter market. This experience has shaped the way manufacturers and large operators have used HUMS information to improve operational readiness and safety while reducing unscheduled maintenance cost. Chaired by Pat Kalgren, Impact, and Eric Bechhoefer, GPMS, the panel will discuss:

  • How this experience will change future HUMS development programs,
  • Highlight shortfalls in this experience, and
  • The future of HUMS application in the medium/light helicopter market.

Panelists include.

  • Brent Butterworth, Eurocopter
  • Mark Davis, Sikorsky Aircraft Company
  • Brian Tucker, Bell Helicopter
  • Harold Summers, Helicopter Association International

HAI is a technical co-sponsor of this conference.
