AgustaWestland is pleased to be exhibiting its market leading range of commercial helicopters at Helitech International 2014 alongside a range of the company’s latest customer support and training solutions. The exhibition is being held in Amsterdam from 14th to 16th October 2014. Finmeccanica – AgustaWestland, which has the most modern range of twin-engine helicopters of any manufacturer,  will be exhibiting the all new AW169 in emergency medical service configuration alongside the market leading AW189 super medium twin-engined helicopter.

AW169 – New Generation Capabilities

More than 120 orders have been placed for the new generation AW169 intermediate class twin-engine helicopter to perform a wide range of missions including, air ambulance, law enforcement, corporate transport, utility and offshore transport. Deliveries of the AW169 will commence next year following civil certification. The AW169 is the first all new helicopter in its class for more than 30 years.

For air ambulance operations the AW169 offers the largest cabin in its class and features a flat floor and constant cross-section whilst providing accommodation for two stretchers (including wheeled stretcher), longitudinally or transversally. The cabin also provides easy access to the entire patient body from both sides and space for a full suite of advanced life support equipment.

For corporate and VIP transport the AW169 cabin can accommodate up to 10 passengers. The AW169 can be equipped with a cabin noise and vibration reduction system as well as a range of advanced in-flight entertainment and cabin lighting systems. When combined with the finest hand crafted materials the AW169 cabin offers outstanding levels of comfort for passengers.

The AW169 is powered by two 1000 shp class PW210A turboshaft engines enabling the aircraft to cruise at more than 140 knots and provide vertical Cat.A/Class 1 capability as maximum all up weight, even in hot conditions. The AW169 is being certified in accordance with EASA CS-29 / FAR Part 29 latest Amendments and will be the only helicopter in its class to meet the very latest safety standards.

AW189 – Market Leading Super Medium Twin

The AW189 was designed in response to growing market demand for a versatile, affordable, multirole super medium class helicopter. The new 8.3 ton, twin-engine helicopter is optimized for long range offshore transport and SAR missions and has already received over 130 orders, including options and framework agreements, in more than 10 countries from 15 customers, making it the outright market leader in its class. The AW189 is now in service with deliveries having been made to Bristow, Gulf Helicopters and Weststar Aviation Services.

The spacious cabin is configured with 16 seats as standard with the option for a high density 18 seat layout or a long range 12 seat configuration. The cockpit design, incorporating the latest in advanced situational awareness technologies, reduces crew workload and enhances safety. The AW189 meets the very latest international regulatory safety requirements (EASA / FAA Part 29, JAR OPS 3 / EU-OPS). The AW189 is unique in having a 50 minute ‘run-dry’ capable main gear box, exceeding current certification standards and offering unmatched safety and reliability for long range offshore operations.

A comprehensive range of support and training services for the type have been developed including  virtual and ground maintenance trainers, an AW189 Flight Training Device (FTD) and an AW189 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) to assist the entry into service of this new generation super medium twin engine helicopter.

Customer Support & Training Solutions

Highlighting Finmeccanica – AgustaWestland’s commitment to improving its customers’ experience by utilising innovation and technology, a range of systems will be on display including an AW109 Virtual Interactive Procedural Trainer (VIPT), Virtual Maintenance Training device and distance learning tools.  These systems are examples of the Company’s commitment to utilise high fidelity training devices to improve safety and reduce operating costs.

Other systems on show include a HUMS ground station and web portal that allows demonstrations and interrogation of anomalies and patterns to improve crew safety and reliability of components across the AW Family. Finally, demonstrations of Skyflight mission planning tools for military and civil operators and the benefits of the Leonardo Customer Portal will be available to visitors.
