Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance (TVACAA) will be coming to your living room this month, in a newly commissioned primetime television series.  Sky 1’s Air Ambulance ER is a six-part documentary featuring the day-to-day work of TVACAA , where 365 days a year the highly skilled crew bring hospital-standard emergency care and equipment to the roadside, critically intervening in sometimes life-threatening situations.

Production company Tern TV spent four months during the summer of 2014 filming with the crew as they embarked on hundreds of missions across Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.  Air Ambulance ER will capture how the The helicopterTVACAA team brings the ER to the roadside in a matter of minutes, using innovative medical technology.

Tern TV producer Louise Say adds, “The programme combines glossy cinematography with fantastic characters and cutting-edge medicine.  The film crew were there every step of the way, from the moment the red phone rings, to the treatment of patients at the scene and their transfer to hospital.

“Back at base they filmed the lighter moments of this close knit team – anything from making a cuppa to cleaning. It’s all part of a day in the life of the crew.”

The series will be screened every Tuesday from 6 January at 9pm on Sky 1 and repeated over the course of the following week. TVACAA features in episode two and throughout the rest of the six-part series. The work of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Great North Air Ambulance also features.
