Med-Trans Corp. is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of the MidAtlantic MedEvac air medical program headquartered in Philadelphia, PA.

MidAtlantic MedEvac began in 1987 as a traditional hospital based program of Hahnemann Hospital, providing emergency care for scene transports as well as inter-hospital transports. The geographical coverage area for MidAtlantic MedEvac includes eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York, New Jersey, Delaware and northeastern Maryland. These regions are served by air medical locations based in; Pottstown, PA, Vineland, NJ and Woodbine, NJ.

“We are extremely excited to have the MidAtlantic MedEvac program join our extensive family of air medical flight programs. We are committed to building upon their outstanding tradition and success of providing the region with reliable and dedicated transport services,” stated Rob Hamilton, Chief Operating Officer of Med-Trans Corporation.

“This partnership with Med-Trans ensures that the excellent service and quality of care provided by MidAtlantic MedEvac throughout its 28 year history will continue well into the future,” stated Hal Spatz, Director of Medical Transportation at Hahnemann University Hospital.

“Every second counts when you are critically ill or injured,” said Brett Greenfield, medical director of AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services and medical director of MidAtlantic MedEvac. “Our flight teams provide life-saving critical care transport to ensure that patients have immediate access to tertiary care. We look forward to being part of Med-Trans Corporation and will continue to enhance the quality of care that MidAtlantic MedEvac has provided throughout its 28 years of operation.”

While the clinical care and familiar faces will remain consistent, MidAtlantic MedEvac will receive three new, state-of-the-art Single Pilot IFR equipped Airbus EC-135P2+ aircraft to be used at each program location. The new fleet of helicopters offers the latest in aircraft technology, safety equipment and features, such as night vision goggles, radar altimeter, GPS navigation, satellite tracking and communications and helicopter terrain alert warning systems (HTAWS). These aircraft are best aligned with the organization’s needs and mission and the overall care and safety of the patient as well as the flight team.

Med-Trans Corporation took ownership of MidAtlantic MedEvac effective January 1, 2015. The new aircraft should be in operation in April.
