Oil & Gas UK, the representative organisation for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, today (26 February 2015) confirms the appointment of three member company representatives to its Board.

Craig May, managing director of Chevron Upstream Europe Limited, is appointed to the Board as a representative of the operator community bringing experience gained in oil and gas roles across the globe. He replaces Andy Samuel, formerly of BG Group.

Neil McCulloch, president North Sea at EnQuest Plc, is also appointed to represent the operator community and brings an understanding of the business gained in a variety of upstream companies.

Richard Mintern, CEO-Northern Europe at Babcock Mission Critical Services, joins the Board representing the contractor community, bringing his 25 years’ experience in the international aviation business.

Malcolm Webb, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, commented: “The UK oil and gas industry is facing the combined challenges of an unsustainably high cost base, a punitive tax regime, decades of under-resourced regulation and now a low oil price. Together these are threatening the North Sea’s very future. We need major reform – of the cost base, regulation and the tax regime – in order to minimise the impact on capacity and jobs during the price downturn and enable the industry to invest its way out of the slump.

“By working collaboratively across industry and governments, I believe we can work towards a sustainable future. Oil & Gas UK has a vital role to play so it has never been more important that its Board comprises high calibre individuals who can draw on decades of experience to provide counsel and guidance. I am therefore very pleased that the exceptional strength of the Board has been maintained through the appointments of Craig May, Neil McCulloch and Richard Mintern.”

Commenting on his appointment, Craig May said: “I am honoured to be joining the Board at such an important time in the North Sea’s history. I look forward to working with the Board and our stakeholders to build a competitive and sustainable future for the UK offshore oil and gas industry.”

Neil McCulloch added: “I am delighted to join the Oil & Gas UK Board at what is a seminal moment for the industry. Greater collaboration between Government, operators and the supply chain is required if we are to improve productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency, and garner future investment.  I look forward to supporting Oil & Gas UK in driving this agenda, which is critical to safeguarding the future of the North Sea and realising the significant prize remaining in the basin.”

Richard Mintern commented on his appointment: “This is a very important time for our industry and I am pleased to be able to contribute to ensuring future success by closely collaborating with industry colleagues and UK government.”
