HAI sets up new Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Committee

HAI has been monitoring the growth and expanded utilization of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). It is apparent that UAS use within low-level airspace that helicopters currently operate in will continue to grow, as will UAS use for missions normally performed by helicopters.

With these thoughts in mind, and because of HAI’s desire to ensure the safe and efficient introduction of UASs into this operating environment, we have decided to establish a new HAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems Committee to assist the HAI Board of Directors and staff with this initiative.

Accordingly, HAI is seeking members for this new UAS Committee. We believe that helicopter operators are the most qualified segment of aviation to address these issues and subsequently operate UAS vehicles within the vertical-reference environment. It is in our best interest and in the interest of our members that HAI has input into shaping the development of this expanding technology.
