Hi! I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Valerie Sheehan, your new Director of Membership. I just started on Monday July 13, and I am very excited to join the AHS International staff.

I have worked in non-profit organizations for many years and in a number of different roles. My favorite has always been the one where I was privileged to interact with the members. I have gained much from these interactions and I am sure to learn even more at AHS. I am thrilled to be part of this Society and hope to get to know you personally.

I will be sending a short membership survey in the near future to help us better understand what AHS means to its members and how we can better meet your needs.

A little bit about me: I’ve worked at the World Bank, the World Resources Institute, and, most recently, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). I grew up in central Africa, Belgium and Washington, DC and went to school at the University of Toronto, so I’m pleased to add additional international experience and another language (French) to the AHS staff.
