Med-Trans Corp. has launched McAlester Regional Air Care, a critical care air medical helicopter flight program to serve McAlester Regional Health Center. The McAlester-based helicopter carries a medical flight crew consisting of a pilot, registered nurse and paramedic trained to provide superior clinical care.

“Med-Trans is pleased to begin service in McAlester to serve McAlester Regional Health Center and the entire region. The AirCare program will be a tremendous regional asset, providing critical care to patients when time is of the essence,” said Med-Trans COO Rob Hamilton.

“Med-Trans is a part of the AirMedCare Network, America’s largest air medical transport membership network that provides economical emergency access to the highest levels of care for its subscribers,” he added. The Med-Trans operation is replacing service previously provided by EagleMed LLC, both Air Medical Group Holding companies.

A Bell Helicopter 407 GX and highly trained flight and medical crews will service the region’s first responders, hospitals and critically ill or injured patients. The Bell 407 integrates reliability, speed, performance and maneuverability with a cabin configured specifically for air medical flights.

The aircraft is equipped with state-of-the-art safety equipment and features, such as night vision goggles, radar altimeters, GPS navigation, satellite tracking and communications and helicopter terrain alert warning systems. Its Garmin G1000H™ dual screen flight deck provides the pilot with critical flight information at a glance for greater situational awareness and safety.

The Bell helicopter’s Rolls Royce turbine engine delivers exceptional performance with the ability to cruise at more than 150 miles per hour. The 407 helicopter will provide quick and easy patient loading and unloading provided by a bi-fold door with a 61-inch opening. The four-blade main rotor system delivers a smooth ride for patient and crew comfort.
