Chinook A15-202 was part of the army’s fleet of CH-47D Chinooks that were in near continuous use in Afghanistan between 2007 and 2013, and is the only D-Model in the fleet to have taken enemy fire — during an incident in 2009, for which the pilot was awarded a medal for bravery.  See full story
