Able Aerospace Services, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, has earned certification by the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) as an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO). The recognition expands Able’s broad certification platform that includes airworthiness recognition from across the globe.

The JCAB-AMO certification, which is issued by Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, allows Able to perform repair or alteration of aircraft components including rotors, transmissions, mechanical/ electric accessories and major parts for JCAB-licensed operators.

“This certification underscores our positive working relationship with the Japanese aviation industry and its trust in our capabilities,” said Able Aerospace Services CEO Lee Benson. “We are honored at the achievement and look forward to putting this certification to work for the benefit of the Japanese and global aerospace markets.”

“This was a rigorous two-year project for Able, but well worth the investment,” said Able Aerospace Services Vice President Mark McNatt. “It is a stamp of approval for Able’s Designated Engineering Representative (DER) repairs, approved replacement parts and overall MRO effort. Ultimately, it offers Able an exciting new avenue to apply our expansive technical expertise that spans more than three decades of service to the aerospace industry.”

From its headquarters and maintenance facilities on the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona, Able offers FAA approved component repair, overhaul and approved replacement parts solutions to commercial and military aviation fleets in more than 60 countries worldwide. Since its inception, Able has grown to more than 500 employees providing thousands of approved repairs and some of the world’s largest exchange inventories.

Able operates from a broad platform of airworthiness certifications from entities including the FAA, EASA, CAAC, Thailand DCA, ANAC and Brazilian Navy. The company is an approved Bell Helicopter Service Center, an Airbus Helicopters and Cathay Pacific Airways approved repair station, and holds International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001-2008 and Boeing’s AS9100 certificate of registration.
