MV-22 air-to-air refueling role confirmed

At the end of last week, the US Dept of Defense confirmed a $58.7M delivery order for non-recurring engineering and logistics services in support of the development and integration of the V-22 aerial refueling system for the MV-22.  Work will be predominantly be performed in Davenport, Iowa and Boeing’s plant at Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and is expected to be completed in June 2019.  F

Fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $10,400,000 will be obligated at time of award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

It is reported that the initial target is for the system to be able to offload 4,000 pounds of fuel, but the end target is 10,000 pounds and that is expected by 2019
