MD Helicopters VP Engineering leaves for HeliTrak

HeliTrak is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Nehls as President of the company, effective May 9, 2016.  Mr. Nehls joins HeliTrak with more than 25 years of leadership and engineering roles in the aerospace industry, including extensive experience in aircraft/avionics design and regulatory certification. Most recently, Mr. Nehls served as VP of Engineering and Chief Engineer at MD Helicopters for the past 7 years, where he was responsible for leading the engineering and development efforts for the mechanical, propulsion, electrical and avionics systems on all MD helicopter products. Prior to that he worked at Honeywell International’s Aerospace division for 19 years, gaining experience in avionics engineering design and flight test, business development, marketing, manufacturing, and production.

During his early career, Mr. Nehls spent several years with McDonnell Douglas, where he participated in the design and development of advanced flight control systems for the AH-64 Apache helicopter, among other projects. He has degrees in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. As a private pilot and an aerobatic competitor, Mr. Nehls maintains his avid interest in all aspects of aviation in both his personal and professional lives. “We are very pleased to have Chris join our company.
