Russian Helicopters, part of State Corporation Rostec, for the first time will hold a seminar for Iranian operators and potential customers of Russian helicopters. During the event, which will be held in Tehran from 23 to 25 August, Russian experts will demonstrate current models of civilian helicopters and talk about plans for setting up a comprehensive after-sales service system in Iran. The event is organized by the state-owned Iranian Helicopter Support and Renewal Company (IHSRC).

The forthcoming seminar will feature experts from Russian Helicopters who will present a wide range of multi-purpose civilian aircraft to meet various needs of customers. This includes the firefighting Ka-32A11BC, the latest Mi-171A2 for search and rescue and offshore operations, and heavy helicopters Mi-26T and Mi-26T2 designed to eliminate consequences of natural disasters, for humanitarian assistance and to transport people.

“Russian Helicopters is in talks to supply light helicopters Ansat and Ka-226T for the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran. The helicopters will be used to create an air ambulance service. In addition to the supply of helicopters, we are working on potentially setting up an assembly line in Iran. According to our estimates, Iran’s need for light Russian helicopters is about 60 units,” – said Russian Helicopters Deputy CEO Alexander Shcherbinin.

Given the continued increase in fleet of Russian-made helicopters to Iran, Russian Helicopters is actively pursuing the issue of establishing an authorized service center with the Iranian company IHSRC. The main purpose of the repair center would be to improve safety, to ensure quality of maintenance and repairs, as well as to improve the performance of the existing fleet of Russian helicopters. The result of this work would be a system of after-sales service of Russian rotorcraft that would satisfy the operator’s needs.

Currently, there are more than 50 Russian-made helicopters in Iran. The highest demand is for the Mi-17 helicopter. Iran has maintained almost the entire model range of this type of helicopters: the Mi-17s, the Mi-171s, the Mi-171Es, the Mi-8 MTVs and the Mi-17V-5s. One of the main operators of Russian-made helicopters in Iran is the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. Their rotorcraft has proven itself well in hot climates and high altitudes of this Middle Eastern country.
