The Guinness Book of World Records has confirmed that the world’s largest aerial projection was created and successfully pulled off this past weekend. Instead of the usual banner pulled by a plane, MTV used the company Branding By Air to successfully create the largest flying cinema screen, pulled and operated by a pair of helicopters, as reported by Gizmodo.

To ensure the feat was possible, Branding By Air used scale models in a wind tunnel. The end product consisted of a 76 metre wide screen, weighted at the bottom with air pockets at the top, ensuring it remained extended and vertical. The second helicopter bearing three 4k video projectors flew alongside the custom built screen, and with a combination of the pilots experience and the tracker of the projector so that it could focus on the screen, the aerial project was a success in advertising MTV’s Video Music Awards.
