The retired Marine One helicopter that was once host to President Nixon, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Gerald Ford, was driven in a flatbed truck to the Chino Airport, where it will be refurbished by Rancho Cucamonga’s California Aero Fab. This refurbishment is part of a $15 million renovation of the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, reports The Orange County Register.
The helicopter will receive repainting and gloss work done, with the insignia, American flag, lettering and white stripes redone too. The inside is receiving new floors, new carpets, the upholstery is being redone along with the curtains. The aim is to make it look fresh out of the 60s.
