Russian Helicopters and SilkWay Helicopter Services (SWHS) signed a letter of intent on September 27 during the International Defence Exhibition ADEX 2016. SWHS, being the largest operating airline in the small aviation field in Azerbaijan, has partnered with Russian Helicopters to create a centre for the maintenance and renovation of helicopters for the Azerbaijan area.

The letter of intent also covers that helicopters belonging to Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Main Department of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Border Service and Defence Ministry will used for service work. As reported by AzerNews, the Deputy Director General of Russian Helicopters, Igor Chechikov, has stated that the centre will focus on the maintenance of their Mi-8/17 series. Joining them will be SWHS’s Sikorsky S92A, Airbus Helicopters AS-332L1 and EC-155B1, Leonardo Helicopters AW139, Мi-8МТВ-1, Cessna 172S airplanes and Мi-8АМТ helicopters.
