GKN Aerospace’s firm in Yeovil, Somerset has taken a knock as Leonardo has decided to make production of all aspects of AW159 Wildcat production to an in-house operation. The Unite workers union has stated that the announcement has come as a big shock. The loss of contract has meant that GKN Yeovil will either be radically downsized or closed down altogether, putting 230 jobs on the line. BBC News has reported that GKN’s Telford branch had already let go over 250 people.
