Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a division of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI) will showcase its popular Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) solutions during the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC), Dec. 13-15 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The company will display its certified IBF for the Airbus Helicopters H130 in Exhibit No. 1622 during the conference. In addition, Wysong Enterprises, Inc., will showcase a Donaldson IBF-equipped Bell 407 in its AMTC Exhibit No. 401. The featured aircraft is operated by Med-Trans Air Medical Transport. A dry media filter element is now also available from Donaldson Aerospace for the Bell 407 IBF system, in addition to the long-proven oiled media filter elements. Approvals for the H130 and other models are anticipated to follow. Wysong has installed 50 Donaldson IBFs, most of them on air medical helicopters, since 2008. The filters have been added to Bell 407, H125 and H130 aircraft flown by 20 different operators.
In total, hundreds of air medical helicopters equipped with Donaldson IBFs are flying critical lifesaving missions globally. The IBFs are essential to protect those helicopters’ engines from erosion, reduce power plant maintenance costs and help aircrews safely complete missions.
Nathan Word, vice president of maintenance for Utah-based Air Medical Resource Group, says that IBF installation helps control maintenance and operational costs for its 11 companies and fleet of helicopters. “We want to maintain readiness cost effectively, and IBFs help us in that regard,” Word said. “Protecting our engines is paramount and IBFs get the job done with no power penalty.”
